“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

On 26th June 2025, The Other Side Foundation School (TOSF) hosted a successful and heartwarming Careers Day that left a lasting impact on learners, parents, educators, and guests alike. Designed to inspire and guide underprivileged learners—many from broken homes—the event brought hope, mentorship, and a vivid picture of what the future can look like with the right support.

Visualizing the Future

The school came alive with energy as learners dressed up to represent their dream careers—doctors, teachers, pilots, lawyers, engineers, police officers, and more. It wasn’t just dress-up—it was a visual manifestation of dreams taking shape. The event aimed to open doors of opportunity and bridge the gap between ambition and access for children who may not often see such possibilities reflected in their daily lives.

Voices of Inspiration

The event featured professionals from teachers who shared personal stories of struggle, perseverance, and achievement. These speakers did  not just describe their careers but it  offered a real-life testimony that, success is possible regardless of one’s background.

One our female teacher  encouraged the learners in her speech in regard with her own story. “Your story can change. All you need is to believe in yourself, focus and hard work.” Alluded the teacher. Her message deeply resonated with the learners, many of whom saw themselves in her journey.

Hands-On Learning

Interactive career booths were a hit, offering practical demonstrations. Learners experienced first-hand of what it is like to be a nurse, engineer, media personnel, or entrepreneur. They asked questions, explored tools, and learned that every dream is reachable with knowledge and determination.

This hands-on exposure brought a real-world dimension to the event. It helped transform vague aspirations into tangible possibilities.

Performances with Purpose

True to TOSF’s spirit, the day included music, poetry, and drama. One performance that stood out was a play about a girl from the streets who overcomes all odds to become a doctor. Her final line—“I am not my past. I am my purpose”—brought the audience to its feet.

These performances reminded everyone that creativity, self-expression, and courage go hand in hand with academic ambition.

A Community Effort

Careers Day was not just about the learners. Some parents and guardians were part of the experience too, and others supported their children by providing them with attires. For these families, it was a powerful moment of realization: their children have the potential to reach beyond their current circumstances.

A Lasting Impact

Careers Day 2025 was more than a school activity—it was a turning point. It showed that when education is paired with inspiration and mentorship, even the most disadvantaged child can begin to believe in a better future.

As the day came to a close, learners walked away with more than information—they left with vision, belief, and a renewed sense of purpose.

At The Other Side Foundation School, the future isn’t a far-off dream.

It starts today.
